My experience with the UNDP Saudi Arabia Country Office provided me with an invaluable opportunity to contribute to the planning and execution of impactful communication and coordination initiatives for large-scale international events, such as COP16. I was fortunate to play a key role in developing and implementing an integrated communication strategy before, during, and after COP16, aimed at maximizing the event’s impact and supporting the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

To address the unique challenges of this project, I developed a three-phase communication strategy—preparation, execution, and post-event follow-up—carefully navigating budgetary and technical constraints. By utilizing tools like Runway and Midjourney for AI-generated visuals and Photoshop for content adaptations, I helped create engaging, copyright-compliant materials that effectively showcased thematic events and highlighted UNDP’s commitments in Saudi Arabia, enhancing both local and international visibility.

In collaboration with our media consultant for COP16 Riyadh, we crafted a targeted, priority-focused media strategy designed to optimize engagement across multiple levels. Coordinating closely with UNDP leaders at international, regional, and local levels, we ensured the consistent delivery of key messages and strengthened stakeholder involvement. Post-event, we worked to build on the event’s success by reinforcing strategic partnerships to maintain the momentum generated.

This event presented significant challenges and served as a valuable learning experience. It allowed me to prove, both to myself and my colleagues, my ability to meet expectations and contribute meaningfully under pressure. I am grateful for the trust placed in me and took this opportunity to approach challenges with creativity and innovation, delivering measurable results that aligned with organizational goals.
