As a communication consultant for the RAWSA MENA network, I had the privilege to contribute to a crucial cause: the fight for secure access to abortion rights in the North African and Middle Eastern region. Through my work with the network’s team, I gained a deep understanding of the challenges faced by feminist and human rights organizations and activists in advocating for reproductive rights in these contexts.
My role as a communication consultant allowed me to engage with the network’s followers and supporters through social media platforms and the website. By posting relevant and compelling content related to the project’s activities and reproductive rights, I helped to raise awareness about the importance of secure access to abortion and the damaging impact of restrictive policies on women’s health and rights. Additionally, I interacted with users, responded to comments, and accepted new members, fostering a sense of community and collaboration among the network’s members.
As a communication consultant, I had the opportunity to use my design skills to create powerful visuals that highlighted the network’s activities and achievements. From designing visual documents for publication to creating animation spots for events, I sought to engage and inspire the network’s followers and supporters. By creating visually appealing and impactful designs, I aimed to make the case for secure access to abortion rights in a way that was both compelling and informative.
As a member of the team, I was committed to collaborating with my colleagues to achieve our shared goals. I attended weekly team meetings and monthly meetings with the focal points, contributing my ideas and insights to the network’s strategy and tactics. I also assisted in organizing and coordinating in-person and virtual meetings, ensuring that the necessary visuals were designed and published on the website.
Overall, my experience as a communication consultant for the RAWSA MENA network was deeply rewarding and fulfilling. I had the opportunity to contribute to a cause that I believe in passionately, while also developing my skills and expertise as a communication and design professional. I am proud to have been part of this crucial project, and I look forward to continuing to support reproductive rights advocacy in the future.
Working with RAWSA from its inception was an incredibly fulfilling experience for me. The organization is dedicated to promoting safe and legal access to reproductive healthcare for women in the Middle East and North Africa, a cause that I find both inspiring and deeply important. However, this mission is not without its challenges, particularly in a region where conservative attitudes and restrictive policies often make it difficult to advocate for women’s reproductive rights.
As the community manager and graphic designer for RAWSA, I was responsible for developing and executing a communication strategy that would help us reach our target audience and raise awareness of our cause. This was no easy task, given the sensitive nature of the subject matter and the need to appeal to a diverse range of stakeholders.
One of my main challenges was creating content that would resonate with our audience while still being informative and educational. I worked closely with the rest of the team to develop messaging that was sensitive to the cultural and political context of the region, while still conveying the urgency of our cause. This involved a lot of research and collaboration, as well as a willingness to be flexible and adapt our approach as needed.
Another major challenge was building an audience for our content. This involved managing our social media channels, as well as our website, and engaging with our followers in a way that would encourage them to support our cause and take action. I was constantly experimenting with different approaches, trying out new ideas and strategies to see what worked best.
Overall, my experience as a community manager and graphic designer for RAWSA was incredibly rewarding. It gave me the opportunity to work towards a cause that I believe in, while also developing my skills and expertise in communication and graphic design. I am proud of the work that we did together and I am confident that we made a positive impact in the region.
